The Medical Approach to CFS and Fibromyalgia in Stow OH

Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, CFSFibromyalgia and CFS Research

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, a medical doctor and researcher of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia, published an article in which he revealed his finding that the medical approach to dealing Fibromyalgia  and CFS by prescribing medication is inadequate.

In the article, he also talked about the confusion and frustration that many people who suffer from either of those conditions go through due to the medical community's misunderstanding of these as diseases they suffer from.  Teitelbaum wrote “In spite of whatever doctors may have said to you in the past, the disease is real and you are not crazy.”

Teitelbaum suffered from Fibromyalgia throughout much of his medical schooling, which caused him to need to drop out for a year to recover. He found himself in so much pain and agony that due to uncontrollable circumstances he became homeless. He decided to dedicate his professional career to scientific research, discovering relief, and helping others who suffered from either of those illnesses.

The Similarities between CFS and Fibromyalgia

While these two conditions are very similar, it is difficult to differentiate between the two. Teitelbaum even stated that CFS and Fibromyalgia are two names for the same condition. “If you go to see an infectious disease doctor, you will have chronic fatigue syndrome,” Teitelbaum says with a laugh. “If you go out of their offices next door to see a rheumatologist, you will have fibromyalgia.”

The acronym SHINE is one he formulated to help people who suffer from either of these conditions to find relief from their suffering.

Understanding how to SHINE

S – Sleep

H – Hormones

I – Immunity

N – Nutrition

E – Exercise

Summing up SHINE

Summed up, what all of this means is that it's important for people who suffer from either of these conditions to get the proper amount of sleep, get tested for hormone deficiencies, receive relief for infections, maintain a healthy diet, and exercise regularly.

According to one study, people who suffer from either of these conditions who follow the SHINE method will see a 75% improvement in their health within three months. The problem is that while the method will relieve the pain of CFS or Fibromyalgia, it will not get to the underlying cause of either of these conditions.

The Condition before the Condition

According to various research, people who suffer from Fibromyalgia or CFS have often suffered from a head or neck trauma. That trauma can cause structural misalignments in the upper cervical spine that places pressure on the brainstem. That pressure leads to the brain's inability to communicate with the body by getting the right amount of blood, cerebral spinal fluid, and nerves from the brain to the remainder of the body.

Luckily, all of this damage can be reversed by allowing an upper cervical chiropractor to examine your upper neck vertebrae. If they find any misalignments in your upper neck, they will make the needed adjustments in order to realign the top two vertebrae in your neck. This will restore your brain's ability to communicate with your body.
